Jackie is the owner and head cake designer at Kalmar Kakes. She is the creative culinary genius leading Kalmar Kakes forward. Jackie has been baking her entire life baking cakes is nothing new to her and in 2009 she took the leap to attend culinary school at Schoolcraft College in Livonia where she enrolled in the baking and pastry program. From there she earned her degree in Culinary Arts and a certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts.
After graduation Jackie went on to work in several professional kitchens around metro Detroit, while maintaining to bake and decorate cakes on the side. In 2012 she took the entrepreneurial dive into setting up Kalmar Kakes with her daughters and she has not looked back. Jackie has a true passion and is very driven to make the best tasting and most beautiful cakes in Michigan. She has also attend numerous cake design classes at the Chicago Pastry School and participated in World Pastry Forum and International Cake Exploration Society. Staying current and up to date with baking trends is very important to her.
She enjoys taking on cake challenges for the design aspects as well as intriguing cake flavors. Her specialty is handmade flowers, custom fondant work, and carved cakes. Jackie has a true passion for making drawn cake designs come to life. Plus, she is always on the lookout on how to better improve her cake and filling flavors. Nothing slips past her. Ultimately Jackie “loves baking for others and the enjoyment we received by making other people happy with our goodies.”
